Great. The album was great.
When I was young I could sing every word from every song on that album. Same for Supertramp and Breakfast in America.
Never understood the fascination with The Police. A doo doo doo a da da da. Ugh
Any police fan should listen to the interviews that Rick Beato did with each member of the band (separately). It was interesting. Copeland was pretty funny. (Don’t ask me, I just bang on things.)
while that particular song was not their best, Sting was freaking brilliant as a composer. Sting and Summers were serious musicians.
Some unusual lyrics with Classical History reference—
“Listen hard to your tuition”.... the original meaning of “teaching”.
“Caught between the Scylla and Charybdis....” In Greek mythology Syclla and Charybdis are two sea monsters mentioned by Homer, which guard both sides of what is thought to be the Straits of Messina. Expression meaning a decision between two evils, so to speak.
For a pop song— pretty complex with chordal and melody tension— ethereal one might say.
