Grayson Murray, pro golfer from Raleigh, NC has passed away after withdrawing from The Charles Schwab tournament yesterday. He reportedly said “I am done” and walked off the course. Not sure of the cause but it was mentioned he suffered from depression, anxiety and alcoholism.
Sad to hear of this. Prayers up for his family.
Very sad. He was in great position after first round, wonder what cause of death was.
Golf is only sport I like or watch on tv. Hate to lose a promising player.

“Passed away” implies a passive death, but, sadly, one must assume suicide from the details presented here.

Bummer, young guy.. but grief counselors will be available? What is wrong with people. A guy died, shxt happens. What’s next fluffy kitties and little puppies to pet to cope with the loss.

It’s quite survivable speaking from personal experience. AA still the best help out there but others are available.

His parents issued a statement that Murray, who battled anxiety, depression, and alcoholism, committed suicide, the means understandably not given. One red flag is that the statement mentioned family members and friends, but not specifically his fiancée, Christiana Ritchie. Murray and Ritchie lived together in Florida, and were to be married in “Spring 2024.” Ritchie also traveled with Murray to many of his tournaments. Which begs the question, was she with him this week? Was there an argument or disagreement that might have triggered him? Prior to his death, Murray evidently deleted an Instagram post speaking to his love for and appreciation of Ritchie. No matter the circumstances, an awful situation.
Sadly, some very good points. Never gave it a thought that his girlfriend hasn’t been mentioned. It is a hard road to complete recovery and eight months is just the beginning, a breakup could have been pivotal in his recovery. Something went wrong and just a mountain he couldn’t climb.
