I still dont believe it, but it seems more and more plausible. Hamas and the war has made the place unlivable. It will take years to rebuild and longer to reform. Nobody wants to put money in to rebuild unless they are sure there will be no more wars. So where do all these displaced people go in the meantime?
I don’t think it was “the plan” but it’s plausible that after consulting with all major players and donors that there aren’t many viable options. Arab armies won’t be Palestinian police force. Arab donors won’t build high rises that may just end up getting blown apart 10 years later. UNDWA is a sick joke. But the People can’t live in tents for 5 years. It’s a mess. And there is blame to go around. Everyone including the Israelis thought Gaza was a lost cause but could be contained. Not anymore. It needs to be rebuilt and reformed. I don’t think Israel intends to annex it but that is a non factor. It’s impossible to manage now. There is no law and order and aid continues to be stolen at high rates. So now what?
