It’s no secret crime in California has gone out of control in many areas. One of the worst is Oakland where the city has been struggling with abandoned, stripped, stolen cars dumped on city streets, among other pervasive criminal activity. But the latest sign of this trend is the elimination of some traffic lights.
According to a report from KPIX, residents near one street intersection which now has stop signs instead of traffic lights blames the whole thing on a nearby homeless encampment. They claim the city’s refusal to do something about the criminal activity centered in that encampment has led to rampant theft.
What’s happening to street lights in Oakland, and we’ve seen in other cities like Las Vegas, is thieves ripping out copper wires. It’s happened so much that it appears Oakland officials have decided to just replace the traffic lights with stop signs.

Where I live (90% Leftist) when a small restaurant opened and added outdoor seating I knew the future would be the owner could choose to fight the derelicts and druggies, who hadn’t bathed or brushed their teeth in days, who wanted to sit there all day as noncustomers, to battle them and keep calling police day after day, or, passively just let it happen as cowards watching good customers leave the area due to being uncomfortable.
Answer: That cowardly owner gave in.
A female coworker tried going to a nice little city park in the nearby shopping district. Paved and with several flower and little tree planters.
One by one dope users and derelicts took over the benches and little tables where office workers had lunch or breaks. Set a huge bag of returnable bottles and cans down. My coworker got up to change seats once and a druggie said “You think you’re took good for me, b##@@?”
She left and he and another were laughing at her and one said “Hey, girlie, I’m gonna remember you. I got a good memory. Watch yourself tonight.”
What was a taxpayers’ city park became a derelect druggie park.
So every one who runs a stop sign after impatiently and selfishly deciding they felt like doing it and hits an innocent person will be blood on the hands of the cheap politicians who let it happen.
I hope the good people (the few and the proud) have their lists up to date. For the next few months.
How Democrats reduce the crime:
Defund cops. If there’s fewer cops they can’t make as many arrests. Fewer arrest makes it look like less crime.
Raise requirement for crime: If theft isn’t defined as a felony until OVER A MILLION DOLLARS IS TAKEN then the number of felony thefts in a city goes waaaaaaay down.
Have Police Chiefs lie: tell Chiefs the city is an a bidding war to get a good company to relocate IF THE CRIME RATE IS LOWER THAN THE COMPETING CITY IN FLORIDA.
Make a deal with the corrupt FBI to ‘allow YOU as a democrat city to ‘self identify’ as a low crime city.
Maybe if a few thugs could steal all the speed limit signs on the Interstates we could just drive as fast as we want all the time.
Our ruling class has mostly been nuts throughout my lifetime.
In the seventies, they stationed cops everywhere to enforce their damnable 55 mile an hour speed limit while some of our most famous serial killers were on the loose.
Keep voting Democrat.

The newer neighborhoods in Vegas have no stop signs or signals. They’re putting in roundabouts.
