The downturn of the pandemic economy has hit many groups hard. But for many millennials — those born between 1981 and 1996 — and Generation Z, who follow them, that pain — plus a number of other factors — are creating questions about who is responsible. Over the next few nights, economics correspondent Paul Solman is going to examine this. He begins tonight from the perspective of some millennials.

Thank you.
Reagan signed amnesty with the requirement that a wall be built. Democrats and RINO neocons decided that wasn’t necessary. Never the less, Reagan himself was not a boomer, neither is Newt Gingrich.
Maybe some of the NAFTA politicians were boomers, as well as others who were probably older, but they were politicians. But the ones who fought against NAFTA were definitely boomers not Gen Y, who were children or the non existent Gen Z.
As a boomer I lived through all of this. I voted against these politicians who supported these things so I know what happened.
You blanket an entire generation while you were not there to see any of it. You seem to be suffering from the ‘anyone older than you’ is a boomer disease. I hope it clears up soon.
If you have supported the GOP, you have supported their globalist, lovers of debt, neo liberal policies. I didn't say all boomers support the downfall of America, but they certainly have helped lead America down a path of destruction. I hope you leave the gop plantation one day and understand there is no going back, that politician's have sold out America and will never fix the problems confronting the future. Good luck.
It sure was.
Conservatives haven’t won many races at all. Republicans have won some, but they are really just the trailer following the Democrats train.
Republicans protect the Deep State’s right flank.
You must think that just because you belong to a party you have to agree with them. I didn’t vote for McCain, I voted for Palin. I didn’t vote for Romney at all. Just because RINOs existed does not mean we all voted for all republicans.
Funny you say leave the republican plantation. All of them, republican and democrat, are bought and paid for deep state politicians. I left them long ago. That is the bill of goods your generation has been sold. They believe there is a political solution to your problems. There is only one solution — the Lord Jesus and the younger generations need to learn more about who He is.
I don’t rely on human beings. They will always let you down. Trust in the God and put all your faith in Him. He won’t lead you astray.
Another article pitting people against each other .
STOP IT.
Boomers, millennials, etc.
All made up words to put people into groups and assume they all think/behave a certain way .
Conservatives shouldn’t fall for it.
There are conservative and liberal people of all ages.
Each civilization goes through that cycle. It’s just our turn.
“Well I consider myself a late boomers, boomers went to fight in Vietnam, with honor.”
You got it Dallas. Most of us reported when called up or went to work and got married and raised families. It was a tiny, loudmouthed minority that got all the attention and got us stuck with those bad stereotypes.
“Considering that it all started before the first boomer could vote I would say it was not entirely their fault.”
Blaming all the trouble on Boomers isn’t quite right. Everyone had a share in the mess. The first election boomers could vote in was 1968. The Great Society and the 1965 Immigration Act were in full force then. That’s where the worst damage was done. As a reaction, Richard Nixon won on the law-and-order platform, and in an even bigger landslide in 1972.
“. Reagan signed amnesty with the requirement that a wall be built. Democrats and RINO neocons decided that wasn’t necessary. “
BULLS#*T !
Here is Reagan debating Bush in 1980. Reagan is specifically against a Wall, and is advocating for totally open borders.

So it was just my imagination that six years later Reagan said no amnesty without a wall. Reverend, we will have to agree to disagree on that point.
Reagan may have been lying, for or against, but when time came for the amnesty bill, he didn’t just say we need this and demand amnesty now like either of the George Bushes. He did get them to agree to a wall. But like abortion, I’m sure the democrats realized the republicans never disagree with the result. Because republicans have to put on a show for their constituents and appear to be on the people’s side not side with the democrats.
” He did get them to agree to a wall. “
I guess not, since the Amnesty happened but the Wall didn’t.
In 1992, Buchanan DID advocate for a Wall. And it was denounced as “extremism” and “racism” etc.
If Reagan had previously advocated for a wall, I’m sure Buchanan would have used that argument.
All of what Adams said is completely true and your claims that somehow the price paid by wholesalers to producers is not affected by the prices European customers could afford to pay is simply laughable. Where did the wholesalers get their money with which they paid the producers of the exports? Oh...that would be those very same European customers. Equally laughable is your claim that somehow end consumers paid the tariffs on imports rather than the owners of the goods. You are not only grossly ignorant about how tariffs work but you are stubbornly ignorant. Its OK, I'll just keep rubbing your nose in the reality until you get it.
Remember when President Trump put a tariff on Chinese goods? Did you see a line item on your receipt that said "Tariff" when you bought those goods? No? Why not? You are the end user. So why didn't you pay the tariff? You should have according to your "logic".
BroJoeK: However, seemingly, Rhett's, Hammond's and others' claims were and remain, highly effective Democrat propaganda.
Nope! They were 100% True. They said it. Numerous politicians on both sides said it. Newspapers in both the North and the South said it. Even foreign newspapers and commentators said it. Economists and tax experts who have looked at the period said it. But you still cling to the laughable little fantasy that you can just deny deny deny and somehow people will believe you over everyone and everything else.
BroJoeK: In 1860 about 95% of all "Southern products" -- meaning exports from Confederate states -- consisted of just one item: King Cotton.
Wrong. It was high, but it was never 95%. It was more like 83%
BroJoeK: Cotton alone represented roughly 50% of US exports with every other "Southern product" combined adding another 5%.
See above. Your percentages are incorrect.
BroJoeK: Northern, Eastern and Western products, including Union slave-states, also including gold and silver, made up the remaining 45%.
See above. This is false. The only significant export the North produced was Midwestern grain. The Northeast produced practically nothing by way of exports and never really had produced much by way of exports.
BroJoeK: There are no facts to support claims that disproportionate Federal spending went "to the North", unless you define "the North" as everywhere north of South Carolina.
This is 100% pure unadulterated BS.
BroJoeK: In reality, such data as we have says about 60% of Federal spending on forts, lighthouses and other infrastructure went to states south of the Mason-Dixon line.
This is a laughable little fantasy on your part completely unsupported by any credible source.
“They are also stirring up animosity between generations through jealousy.”
The younger generations being jealous of the older ones because their popular culture is inferior? I can’t imagine that big-name older boomer artists like Todd Rundgren, Stevie Wonder, Steve Winwood, Donald Fagen-Walter Becker could be jealous of anyone in the music business except for how much money they got paid and how much effort it took them to make even that much. However, being of advanced age today, and if they were somewhat smart with their money, they probably know they can afford to not be jealous at all.
You’re right. We Boomers dealt with the PTSD of the Greatest Generation plus our own in Vietnam. Society began to really turn away from God during our time, so many Boomers turned to Dr. Benjamin Spock to raise our children. That didn’t work out well—ask Generation X and Y. It never works without God and now we’re paying the price.
no, boomer.
