The boss of a [UK] water company that let parasites leak into its supply to residents has said she is "truly sorry".
The company's CEO Susan Davy said the company would "not stop working until the situation has been resolved", after 22 cases of cryptospiridiosis were confirmed, with hundreds more complaining of stomach upset symptoms.
South West Water said that they had found the source of the contamination - a damaged air valve that may have let manure pass into the supply. Customers have been asked to boil water before using until the problem is resolved. Anyone affected will be given £115 in compensation.

“I’m Sorry
So sorry

I didn’t know
Water could be
So cruel.
Oh, oh oh oh
Oh oh, oh oh!
In the Walkerton case, heavy rains flooded the reservoirs with manure, which they weren’t testing properly or chlorinating properly.

And in those days not so easy to boil the water.
Was there just one site, or were there a para sites?
LOL
U2 : )
People at the time still thought cholera, like many other diseases was caused by "bad air." The investigation that occurred to try to find the source of the cholera helped people realize that cholera was caused by germs, and that sanitation practices needed to be improved.
For hundreds, if not thousands of years, people didn't drink water because it could kill you. They instead drank watered-down ale, wine and hard cider with their breakfast, and during the day while working. At supper and into the evening, they drank the full-strength stuff. Even children drank the watered-down stuff instead of water.
"I don't drink water, fish f___ in it." - W.C. Fields
Having worked a water treatment and distribution job, this situation would be called a cross connection and is an absolute no no in the US. Any possibility of a sewage or other contamination source being plumbed to a treated water supply is absolute taboo.
Someone should be decorating a light pole over this.
Our own home’s water supply is protected with a 1 micron filter. The drinking & cooking water with a .5 micron carbon filter. These filters will stop anything nasty. I recommend everyone here have these installed. The best filters found at big box stores are 5 micron. The ones I recommend have to be ordered from dealers on Amazon.
We use softened well water and the .5 micron carbon filter creates a product almost as good as bottled water.
> What’s wrong with harakiri? <
The spelling. I couldn’t figure out how to spell it.

Hairy Carry
LOL!! He was a character. My only knowledge of him is from the movies he was in, and how he was characterized by others. He died in 1946, the year before I was born.
Get out of her kid, yer botherin’ me. Ya smell like peanuts and popcorn. WC Field.s
W.C. Fields had a fear of being stuck in a town and having no money. So put money in many different banks in many different cities. But he rarely used his real name. Instead he used aliases:
Cholmonley Frampton-Blythe, Aristotle Hoop, Ludovic Fishpond, Figley E. Whitesides, Sneed Hearn, Aloysius Mergatroid-Hamms, etc.
So perhaps in some small town somewhere, there’s an account with Aristotle Hoop’s name on it - money just waiting to be claimed.
Now that's an interesting bit of information that I didn't know. He was as good at making up names as the Three Stooges were. My favorite is the name of their law firm: Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe.
I remember seeing clips of him saying that. Hard to believe he was only 66 when he died. To me he looked a lot older, but that could have been the quality of the film they used in those days.
That is true for 99.99% of all humanity.
There are very, very few people alive today who could credibly claim to have knowledge of him not limited to his movies (and radio shows, etc.), and characterization by others.
Regards,
He was a high-grade alcoholic. His liver was shot. Died of internal poisoning.
Read "W.C. Fields and Me," by his mistress!
Regards,
Damaged air valve= thats probably a mis quote, it was probably an “ air operated valve” , maybe an air operated “ back flow preventer”.
