Rich and snobby? Lots of public courses in the US where people of every income and skill level play. I took lessons on one of them.
Snobby? My dear friend, who died last year, played on public courses here. More public courses than country clubs. He was hardly wealthy, few golfers are.
I used to live on a really nice golf course in Houston.
Don’t blow smoke up my ass. They broke my windows and ran
And they were almost *always* drunk. Only the women seemed to take care
The myth of golf as rich and snobby is just that - a myth. Ninety per cent of players in the US play at public facilities. Believe me, my local driving range is pretty diverse... just the parking lot tells a lot. Yes there are Porsches and Teslas and high-end SUVs, but there are a number of beat-up junkers too. That is golf's great appeal - it's universality. Played on every continent too. Except Antarctica lol.
Do you know how many boxes of golf balls I still have from all their lousy drives? I was pulling them out of my yard my pool and even my *front yard* on the other side of the house. Private course cost good money rich drunk dorks
