I guess I'm missing something. The Voyager spacecraft are flying into the Oort Cloud at constant subliminal speeds right now with no need for any "warp". The whole point of warp speed is the ability to somehow break the speed of light, not to operate at subliminal speeds.

Well, the concept in sci fi world is that the craft creates a bubble of spacetime around itself. Inside the bubble, regular speed occurs. But outside the bubble space is warped around the bubble and the craft moves through space at or higher than the speed of light.

Beyond that…I am still struggling with whether or not the cat in the box is alive or dead.
