The source didn’t differentiate between COVID and non-COVID.

Yes, that makes sense, because you want to compare numbers of deaths to determine excessive death counts. The cause of death should play no role in the determination of there being excessive deaths or not. 🙂👍

Nice snark. Excess deaths caused directly by an infectious agent during a pandemic are expected. My point is that number was likely inflated. Excess deaths not attributable to the virus are the issue. Every source I’ve seen is that the non-COVID excess deaths were significant. Disagree?
