Twin brother. I have not published it in FR yet, but had to shoot a guy last summer. Long story (later). Now, some issues with paranoia and some emotional issues. Either leadership in this country starts cracking down on crime or we’re doomed as a nation.
When my home invasion happened and the perp ran, I called the police (Melbourne, FL). They asked if they were still there. I said no. They then said that if I filed a report that my gun would be confiscated due to being at a crime scene. I asked what would I do if he came back. They said “call us, that is why we are here”. I declined to file a report which is probably the desired outcome....lower crime statistics.
Buddy and I had finished a log cabin on his dad’s 30 acres on the river & we had lanterns, fishing gear etc stolen. Nothing high dollar but it still pisses you off.
Guys across the road had the same issue with people breaking in to their cabin so one day they went into town only to come back & saw that their cabin had been broken in after only being gone for a couple hours.
They went looking on their property and found a squatter who got the drop on them with a .22. He ordered the two guys to get on their knees and when one of the dropped, he grabbed the .38 out of the small of his back and opened fire. He told my buddy several months later that after he emptied the revolver, he was still firing due to the adrenaline rush.
I can’t imagine its easy to shoot another person and live with the aftermath but people have a right to protect their property, themselves and their families.
