Those Marines are indeed curious. They might be from a local VFW unit. They sometimes do color guard presentations. But they don’t quite seem to be as “spit shined” as regulars should be. And I notice the rifles are nowhere near being current issue. Those ‘O3 Springfields are in service only with the occasional drill team. But notice no bayonets. ROTC units can use de-milled ones. Any self-respecting current unit would have those rifle slings either “whited” or well oiled but leather slings have been out of service for half a century.
I occasionally loan our local VFW unit random pieces of hardware so’s they can put on a good show for a funeral, parade, etc. But those rifles are too old even for that, mostly. And oh, by the way, who the heck would let a Marine color guard check out their service weapons for a private party? I’m suspicious that they’re Biden’s rent-a-Marines. Not seeing insignia which could get them busted for impersonating.

Re: Marines at Mar-a-Lago

“Marines at Trump resort did not break rules on politicking in uniform”
(snip) Marine Corps officials said a viral photo of four uniformed service members posing at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate did not take place during a political fundraiser, but instead at an approved nonprofit event without any connection to the Republican presidential nominee.
In a statement posted on social media over the weekend, service officials said the Marines — reserve members of the 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company — were in attendance on April 11 at the Florida resort to serve as a color guard for a gala hosted by the Grey Team, a nonprofit organization focused on preventing military suicides.
“The request was reviewed by Marine Forces Reserve Community Relations and deemed eligible for support,” service leaders said in a statement. “The event was open to the public and helped raise awareness about military and veteran suicides.
“The event was neither a political fundraiser, nor was the 45th president of the United States in attendance.”

I just read the guidance, obviously not against the UCMJ if veterans, Reservist not on AD wouldn’t seem to cover them as a color guard. Kinzinger is a douchebag.
Thank you.
> They might be from a local VFW
That was my first guess.
