OK, I had my one week follow-up with the surgeon who operated on my shoulder.

For you medical mavens and surgical supporters in the audience. I got the exact name of the surgical procedure. It was a Reverse Arthroplasty. This involves a complete replacement of the shoulder ball and socket but with the ball attached to the shoulder and the socket attached to the Humerus.

The doc took off the bandage and said everything looked good and leave it open to the air. I'm still stuck in this sling for the next five weeks. I am cleared to drive and do other things subject to the usual restrictions. This means no holding, lifting, holding, yada, yada, yada.

Good on you.
My wife had that about 2 months ago. 20 years of pain-—> gone. How good is that?
I was chief cook and bottle washer for about 6 weeks.
Her range of motion has come back further from where it was before the surgery.

Congrats on your progress. Be sure, or at least try like heck, to stick with your exerterrorist. Get all the motion exercise you can stand. Yeah, I know it prolly hurts but it’s what you have to do to maintain your motion and flexibility on the back side. The quacks tend to forget to explain about maintaining mobility and your various parts that been worked on try to cover themselves up in scar tissue and stuff. Another note from experience is to be mindful of irritation, swelling, etc. and use cold paks to stay comfy if anything like that turns up. And I’ve noticed along he way that “reefer cold” isn’t as harsh as “freezer cold” and is sometimes better.
