Lots of bad actors here. High on the list are the school officials who took no real action.
I saw that many times in my years as a public high school teacher. Priority #1 with the administration was always public relations. Gotta make the school look good. So suppress any safety concerns. The well-being of staff and students was of no importance.
The only thing that can possibly change this culture is massive lawsuits. And even then it’s the innocent taxpayers who end up with the bill.
The lawsuits need to target the union funds. All the teachers in the system who dreamed of a nice pension and a comfortable retirement? They should all lose it because the Union pension fund is drained dry. Too bad you bastards didn’t do the right thing.

This is exactly why I don’t like school PDs that are run by the school administration. If there are to be cops in schools, I want them to be preferably be sheriff’s deputies answerable to an elected county sheriff, or alternatively cops from a municipal PD ultimately answerable to an elected city council. Letting the school systems run cops is absurd. Too much opportunity for things to get swept under the rug.
