RIP, liked him in both McCloud and the original Battlestar Galactica. The 1980 Galactica (that did not feature him) was so bad, it is a classic in it’s own rite, lol.

He was one of those working actors I knew exactly who he was, I just couldn’t remember his name. (I have a lot of those) From a few interviews, seemed like a nice guy off stage too. RIP.

Good actor.
Requiescat in pace.

Wasn’t “Combat!” the an inspiration for “Tropic Thunder”?
RDj didn’t do him justice.

Eddie Rochester Anderson and Beulah were way ahead of him as were many, many others.

Agreed, especially the latter.

95 is a good run; I can only hope I earned that...assuming that I want to see what’s coming...

Wow, I had completely forgotten about the 1980 spinoff. At the time I wasn’t aware of how cheesy it was but looking at it now it definitely falls into the *unintentionally funny* category. Apparently the idea was to keep the gist of the original but with a much lower budget.

“Barrier”? Please.

Oh what courage!

Oh what fortitude!

....oh what a coincidence.

I have no idea if Mr. Carter was a typical foaming-at-the-mouth Hollywood leftist, but if he wasn’t then he probably wouldn’t appreciate the media trying to make a martyr out of him. Well, “martyr” isn’t exactly the right word (”pawn”?, “token”?) but you know what I mean.

Reminds me of the time a few years ago when a Japanese goaltender had a brief NHL stint with (I think) the L.A. Kings. The announcers actually lauded him during his debut for “breaking the barrier” which apparently secretly existed against oriental goalies.

Whoever ordered those words to be printed on the teleprompter either actually believed there was such a “barrier” (LOL) or, knowing full well that there was not, figured he could virtuously impress some of the clueless types who viewed the game. Either way, it was some hilarious moronity.

Didn’t recognize the name, but as soon as I saw his picture, instantly recognized him from my youth of the 70s and 80s. Rest in peace.
