No Mercury & no Comet.The sky, even at totality, was too bright for the comet. Expectations were set too high on the possibility of seeing it. It probably was seen by some with binoculars, but why waste totality time on something you can see after sunset.
In re. Mercury. was only a couple degrees from the sun, again not bright enough without optical aid. I did view totality with binoculars, but didn’t notice it; too busy gawking at the main spectacle.
