Civil rights groups are calling for the collapsed Baltimore bridge to be renamed when it's rebuilt, citing accusations of racism against national anthem author Francis Scott Key.
Leaders argued that the The Star-Spangled Banner author -who the collapsed bridge was named after - was a slave owner who wrote lyrics that scholars have said 'demeaned black people.'
They have asked for the bridge to be renamed after late congressman Parren J Mitchel, the first black man from Maryland elected to the US House of Representatives.

If they want to pay for the bridge they can name it whatever they want, but if any taxpayer dollars are used it remains Francis Scott Key Bridge.

I would rather have folks that passed 9th grade algebra and 10th grade geometry without getting a minority/inclusion bump to pass the class design and build that thing.

I was going to suggest if they did replace it that they should build it out of logs as a celebratory retro salute back to the days of slavery.

Mitchel’s early life was admirable. He got a purple heart in Italy. He got advanced degrees and sued to enter the University of Maryland graduate program.
But in his congressional career he didn’t do much. His only accomplishments seem to center around affirmative action. But then again maybe using his name is a good fit for Baltimore.
I predicted this the day after the bridge collapsed.
Time to separate folks. Blacks will never be happy no matter what.
Let’s just cut those blacks who despise America a check on the condition that they have to relinquish their US citizenship and move to a Sub-Saharan African nation within 90 days.
