I was love-bombed on Hinge by Tesla-driving realtor — then he swindled me out of my life savings
New York Post via Yahoo ^ | February 16, 2024 | Jeanette Settembre

he swindled me out of $71,640 — my life savings.

he said, “about a year ago, I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a thickened heart wall"

He was helping pay his mom’s mortgage and taking care of things for his family because his stepdad was having a serious back surgery

he said to me that he planned to move to Florida in October, and if this goes anywhere, is that something you’re open to? I said it’s funny, because I have family down there, my best friend is down there, I go back and forth as it is. I was in the process of getting a Florida real estate license. I was like, “yeah, this is synchronicity.”

he invited me to his friend’s birthday dinner. We were approaching the place and he said, “I don’t want to go. I just want to spend time with you, I haven’t seen you.” We were right in front of the restaurant. I thought it was a little weird, but we went out for dinner blocks from the place.

He didn’t want any pictures on social media because he said he wanted to keep our life private

he asked me to Venmo him $501 to test if his Venmo works and promised to repay me.

He told me we’re going to have a future together. He was putting in an offer on a condo in Aventura

he asked me for $1,310 to pay for a yacht charter and a restaurant

he asked me for $5,000 for an Airbnb and said he would pay me back – he even sent me his bank statement showing $720,000. He promised to give me $10,000 in cash the next time we saw each other.

He said he needed bail. He asked me for $12,000. I wired him the money.

If he had $720K why did she feel compelled to loan him any money.

You may wish to not trust someone who needs bail money.

“he swindled me out of $71,640”

You got to save more cash than that.

Love scam. Happens a lot. Often ends with the man losing his kids, and giving up half his savings, equity and future income.

This is tragic.

Honest people would never even think of taking advantage of someone like this. It is a mistake to trust anyone 100%. People will tell you everything they think you want to hear to get you to trust them.

If someone seems too good to be true, they are probably running a con.

Unless there is a ring on your finger, don’t give money to a “boyfriend”.

Most realtors would have swindled her out of $72K AND locked her into an 8.5% mortgage for 30 years.

He said he needed bail.

...and that's when the fight started.

This is a story that has been told before. I seriously doubt if it is true. This is a “look at me” article probably with a link to a GoFundMe page. A reverse swindle.

Either that or she’s a homely and pudgy woman with low self esteem and was super excited that she was going to get hitched finally.

Why else would anyone even admit such stupidity let alone just come out and tell the whole world.

[You may wish to not trust someone who needs bail money.]

Seems like only conservatives need bail money now. Leftist dirt bags get released with no bail.

Not going to read the article to check for the GoFundMe link, but I’ll bet you’re right.

Okay she’s not pudgy or homely but definitely very needy. Look at those lips! They are enhanced by cosmetic surgery and they don’t look normal at all. Some guy saw her picture and sent her some images of the guy who’s on YouTube without his shirt on selling weight loss products. She walked right in and gave her money happily.
