Video shows engine cover of Southwest Airlines flight to Houston tearing away during takeoff
I’m pretty sure that’s what happens to my luggage occasionally.
But, maybe the ESG score for BA is up due to the DEI program for mechanic training.
Man, Southwest appears to be poised to snatch the title of “lousiest maintenance department of a major air carrier” away from United.
Of course, half the media reporting will try to link it straight to Boeing.*
*which may be deserved; I can’t seem to find this aircraft’s tail number/age. But most of the slew of incidents since the infamous door plug one in the past couple months have been maintenance, not original manufacture problems.
Evil Boeing plane.
Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 flight to Houston returns to Denver after engine cover tears away during takeoff.

Comments?
Yep it took off into the WILD BLUE YONDER
Seriously, as a former flight attendant who is married to a pilot, I have NEVER seen this level/number of incidents.
And I was there before drug and alcohol testing!!!!!
Not uncommon...☺
I sure hope that takeoff was aborted.
The video isn’t worth watching at all.
There sure seems to be a surge in airplane maintenance issues.
So the question is: Did the maintenance crew do any work on the engine while it was at Denver???
The airlines were mandated to vaxx everybody in 2021 and a bunch of experienced workers chose to leave versus taking the jab.
That may be the reason so many maintenance incidents are happening these days
Boeing C suite execs are all working from home in their pajamas in different parts of the country. Hopefully this will show up in their social media or YouTube feed so they will get to watch it.
Maintenance.
Not Boeing this time.
Why would someone go in there? Oil, magnetic plugs, filter change....
Some idjit didn’t close the cowl properly. Not a difficult task. Done plenty.
In defense of Boeing, it certainly gets WINDY during takeoff.
Cowling latches were obviously not secure..(Unlatched) and easy to spot during the walkaround...Whoever did the walkaround, Capt or FO...needs to be fired...lame.
WTH is going on with Boeing????
Incident after incident after incident.....
