Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 flight to Houston returns to Denver after engine cover tears away during takeoff
I to have to laugh at your sign on name..
My son and his son, both engineers gave me some incredible duct tape for emergency use.
Super Strong Duct Tape:
The video isn’t worth watching at all.
There sure seems to be a surge in airplane maintenance issues.
So the question is: Did the maintenance crew do any work on the engine while it was at Denver???
The airlines were mandated to vaxx everybody in 2021 and a bunch of experienced workers chose to leave versus taking the jab.
That may be the reason so many maintenance incidents are happening these days
Boeing C suite execs are all working from home in their pajamas in different parts of the country. Hopefully this will show up in their social media or YouTube feed so they will get to watch it.
Regarding the MAINTENANCE squawks on the Alaska Airlines flight: We know that the aircraft had multiple pressurization warnings prior to the blowout. Why didn’t maintenance ground the aircraft and find the true source of the issue? Why did the pilot of the flight not preserve the voice recorder audio for that flight? Did she ignore a warning and decide to fly the aircraft anyway? Things are too fishy in this DEI world right now. We know 100% that the Alaskan Air flight was not allowed to fly to Hawaii but it was allowed to fly inland… how many other flights are traversing our skies today with issues? I am so glad I have 2,000,000 frequent flier miles in my accounts with American and Delta right now. What a time to fly. There should be plenty of room on the flights because no one will want to fly by the end of the year.
Could be and I hope he is qualified, but this decrepit DEI gov’t disparity policy DEMANDS that the 13% black population be represented by at least 13% in admissions, graduation, and hiring in EVERY field regardless of testing results, ability, or knowledge. This DEI policy is literally killing us.
Maintenance.
Not Boeing this time.
Why would someone go in there? Oil, magnetic plugs, filter change....
Some idjit didn’t close the cowl properly. Not a difficult task. Done plenty.
This never would have happened on Herb Kellerher’s watch.
Oldie but goodie!
In defense of Boeing, it certainly gets WINDY during takeoff.
Ducttape was a name I used with early email accounts and log on credentials. I've gotten away from it in recent years, using PapaBear in some variation. I wish I could change it here but I don't think I can. But that's ok, Ducttape45 is known by many here.
No worse than your mechanic not closing the hood after an oil change, only at 550 mph and 3,000 ft, instead of 60 on the freeway.
At least the engine cover doesn’t block your view...
They all "work from home" so nobody is in charge.
“ In defense of Boeing, it certainly gets WINDY during takeoff.”
An airplane taking off is basically the airplane blowing away in the wind in a controlled fashion. And why wouldn’t it ? Being in the middle of a cat 5 hurricane with wind speeds 150mph or greater and a shape like that.

Damn, at least the engines stayed on the Southwest plane, but not this one.
“The video isn’t worth watching at all.”
I disagree. The video offers a much better view of the cowling tearing away and continues to when the plane has substantially slowed indicating aborted takeoff without having to read the article.
About 70% of airliners in US flagged carriers are Boeing jets. Statistically any event will likely be a Boeing jet.
But loose panels, blown engines, bird strikes, flat and missing tires, poor piloting, cracked windshields, and other such events are not related to the plane's design. If anything, the fact that no one is hurt in these events and the plane always safely lands IS.
I think the video may show the landing after the take off.
Cowling latches were obviously not secure..(Unlatched) and easy to spot during the walkaround...Whoever did the walkaround, Capt or FO...needs to be fired...lame.
