Thought this might be interesting for anyone who wishes to watch. Expires in May. Being PBS I hope it's not biased, but the guy was just brillilant.
Brilliant. And sorely missed.
During the late 60s it was amazing to see his show on TV and more amazing to hear the conservative views and watch him debate the big liberals of the time and win.
Might watch it, but it seems there are some problems. Link to NRO via Powerline:

For those who don’t know, Buckley was an infantry officer during WWII so he was more physical and physical world capable than he comes off as an intellectual sitting in a chair.
He was also a devoted Bachian and harpsichordist (not a very good one mind you) but respect for anybody who would choose that as their instrument and dive head fist into JSB.
He was also a big time sailboat guy, which again indicates a relationship with the physical world.
All men should strive to be well-rounded.
“During the late 60s it was amazing to see his show on TV”
I was flipping channels on our basement TV when I was in middle school and I came across some guy with a weird accent.
Sat down and started to listen what he as saying and became a big fan.
A few weeks later my Dad came downstairs when Buckley’s show was on and says “What are you listening to?!?!?” Dad became a fan too!
It was a great portrayal of Buckley. Once they get to Newt Gingrich and DJT near the end of the program it turns into total BS garbage. Well worth watching, just turn it off when the lying BS starts.
Yeah. Wondered where they’d interject the left bias. Thanks. I will do that.
Imagine all the late 60s teens and college kids who saw his show and were puzzled on how he could be saying things in ways they had never heard and which they thought they disagreed with, yet sounding correct about everything and showing the flaws in the positions of the liberal intellectual giants of their time, I’m sure it changed many lives and taught many they could disagree at school and college.
He was a powerful force for sanity.
However, they did make Rush Limbaugh, Newt Gringrich, and Trump out to be monsters. They didn't mention anything about the neocon takeover of NR or the conservative movement in general.
I know there is a lot of animosity toward Buckley on FR. NR was my first major introduction to conservatism. Buckley was a great essayist, interviewer, and author. I especially liked Stained Glass which I think would be a great book for anyone to read who thinks pushing farther and faster in Ukraine would be a great idea.
Lots of beautiful film especially of Buckley sailing with his son and his friends. Definitely watchable except for the last few minutes.
Sadly NRO still is opposed to Trump. By doing that they helped elect Biden.
Per the NRO I know Buckley’s opinion of Trump was he was a narcissist and a demagogue but without Trump we have fallen since the Biden election, far into the left’s hands.
Bill was a bit of a narcissist himself.
Not as bad as Mailer or Vidal, though.
But I love the guy, and miss his presence.
I didn’t know there was a remake of it but I sure remember canceling my subscription to NR.
Bill also never got to see the position reversals that Trump made in 2015/16 at age 69 and then how he governed and honored most of those during his presidency.
Yes. Good point.
But then what is up with the guys at the National Review? They are still writing articles against Trump.
