New Transparency Bill Would Shine Light Into Appropriations Process

Earlier this March, Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) introduced the Appropriations Transparency Act, which would allow taxpayers to better understand how the federal spending process impacts the nation’s finances.

Under current law, the Congressional Budget Act, which established and organized the nonpartisan fiscal scorekeeper Congressional Budget Office (CBO), exempts the Appropriations Committees from mandated budget scoring on legislation.

This bill would simply remove this exemption, and therefore require legislation from the House and Senate Appropriations Committees to receive scoring.

Never happen as long as the GOPe/uniparty are running things. If the $1.2 trillion spending package these criminals just passed doesn’t make you want to throw up in your throat, nothing will. Yep, millions in chopping parts off kids but can’t build 100 yard picket fence on the border.

And in 100 days we’ll get another, gotta keep that 3T added to the debt to keep up the spending...and at the rate the GOPe is folding they’ll lose the house before the election.

I would like the Congress to be stuck with its own Truth in Labeling Act.

Requiring bills to be focused only on the bill title/name, and the title/name being focused only on the purpose of the bill.

And, to STOP the inclusion of each bill, the simple phrase:

“and for other purposes.”

That, being a license to escape the original intent of the bill.
