She has no common sense. Why would you buy a car that requires that big of a monthly payment? And then to cry about it afterwards? I was never able to afford a new car until I was in my late 30’s. And even after that, I still bought used cars because it was cheaper than buying a brand new one. I’m 77 and lease now, and would never buy another car. I won’t be alive if Joe’s EV mandate kicks in, so I’ll drive what I want while I still can.
I can’t imagine that. I bought a car for cash in 2011 for 20K. Coincidentally it was a Toyota. It’s now 13 years old but works great. Always get the oil changed!!!!
I have found from experience that you stand a chance of getting a car that has never been driven, if you buy within two years, and you get a good discount as well.
Same here. I didn’t own a new car until my 50’s. It lasted until 10 years after I retired. I lease my new car for 380/month for three years with option to buy at the end of that time when I will be 73.
The first car I bought (post divorce) cost $4000..Toyota liftback...a Peach of a car I drove for 10 years. I was working fulltime, in my 20s with a young son. But, I did not overspend elsewhere. I needed that car in order to get to work!
I’m with you. I bought my first new car when I was 43 and it was an econobox.
