I find it strange that these “sleuths” decided to look by the river, and even more strange that they found this credit card under leaves, and that the card belonged to the missing person. I’m sure that the police are also beyond curious as well. For the odds of this happening are astronomical at best, and beyond believable at worse.

Yes, kind of suspicious, and why didn’t the police find it. Also and more importantly, why the hell didn’t one of his “brothers” accompany him when he got kicked out of the bar?
Nothing at all strange about it. There were a lot of videos from streetcams etc that gave people a rough idea of his path and general direction. They looked where anyone naturally would.
That’s where his phone was last pinged. The riverbank there is very steep and full of trash and homeless camps. Tragic, to be ditched by his fraternity “brothers.”
