We killed hundreds of thousands of children in WW2, whether from bombing cities or starvation.
Worse is coming. The West CANNOT take in all the starving of the world. At some point we will either be overwhelmed, or we will start machine gunning migrants.

It appears that you tend to support the palistinians from your posting history.
So your sympathetic to the palistinians and feel Israel is wrong to pursue the elimination of hamas and thier supporters, who has declared they want the elimination of Israel/Jews.
I just dont like open ended conflict/war and want a speedy conclusion.

The people of Gaza could end this tomorrow. Free the hostages and turn over the Hamas members to the Israelis.
No, you want to stop Israel from pursuing a fight to eliminate a threat to their livelyhood....
And you don’t want to admit your bias towards the palistinians in gaza, or that they also support the elimination if Israel/the Jewish people.
So you want to do one sided high road/moral ground argument to gain support for the gazans, and indirectly, hamas.

Since Biden made it more difficult for the hostages to get released with his support for Hamas, there is no reason for Hamas to do anything except wait it out.
My opinion:
1. the hundreds of thousands starving is exaggerated at best. There IS aid coming in
2. “we” as in the USA or EU should at the most try to get in food aid. Arab countries need to pull their weight
3. Arab countries should put pressure on Hamas to release the hostages — if the hostages are released, the war ends.

Hamas caused this and now they are crying because they are being decimated. Too bad. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
LJNS - I’ve battled with Randfan over the years and he is no leftist troll.
But I do think that you, Randfan, are getting influenced by the media. I’ve not have a tv for nigh on 16 years now and am much happier for it. The news is at best distorted. I read both the right and left websites and it is interesting how they report the same issues utterly differently.
In the case of Gaza, all the information is that there is food there and that the Rafa exit to Egypt is closed and that Hamas won’t give in and neither will Israel.
I don’t believe the people have that power. They have no weapons, except those in Hamas, or even food and water at this point.
A safe haven needs to be set up somewhere, where those who are not part of Hamas, especially the Christians in Gaza, are allowed to seek refuge, and be fed and protected. But even that isn’t being offered.

There have been some good points made this morning that I have not considered.
Gee, I wonder why they don't have a thriving economy, robust commercial sector, burgeoning cultural life there? Why don't they have amicable trade relations with other countries? Why don't they have a dynamic cultural exchange program with their neighbors?

The basis of the hamas attack goes back to the islamic belief, which is that anyone that isn’t muslim is non believer, who must be either enslaved, or killed. So what is going on is really a continuation of a religious war.
The question then, might be, how much of a beliver are you?
If your neighbors killed your wife, kids and your pets and kept bombing your house - would you worry about their welfare?
