I have never understood how Bill Murray became a comedy icon.

Smarter than average - yes.

Comedy skills - average

Acting skills - barely average.

Physical appearance - below average.

This guy has been hanging around movies and TV for 50 years, and I still don't get it.

True, but sometimes he’s the exact guy for the role. “Groundhog Day”, “Scrooged”, “The Man Who Knew Too Little”, “Kingpin” and of course “Caddyshack”.
