How to Repair an Outlook Data File (PST or OST) That’s Damaged or Corrupt

Proton is good they also have a Free VPN
It may not be your email vendor. Microsoft has pulled technical support for Outlook 2013, which was an issue for me. They also renamed the default mail app shipped with the OS from Microsoft Mail to Outlook. If there’s a slider button in the upper right corner of the page that says “New Outlook” then that’s what is forcing the changes. I turned mine off and suddenly began having authentication errors, though, so caveat emptor.
I haven’t used Outlook since I was a teenager. Loved Thunderbird but a few years ago there was some sort of transition and I couldn’t get it to work anymore (tried everything!) for my verizon email.
These days I use mailfence when email is necessary, which isn’t often. Sort of like proton mail or tutanota. Secure, maybe, but they’ll never be as handy as Thunderbird.
Hey Chickensoup, why are you trying to run Proton through outlook, keep them separate.
Be blessed, it’s been a while!
