The Russian-flagged tanker Mekhanik Pogodin, used by the Russians as a command post, was destroyed on 11 March 2024 as a result of a successful strike by the Ukrainian Air Force near the Kinburn Spit, Mykolaiv Oblast.

Details: It is noted that the vessel was destroyed in accordance with international humanitarian law as a legitimate military target belonging to the Russians.

I agree since Dima is saying it, but even so, he says it’s not a command post...just a monitoring outpost.
Whether or not it it helps Ukraine, who knows. The Russians can probably station a few thousand troops, with some equipment, in the place of the barge to keep watch on the Ukrainians.
The boat is not that big of a deal, just part of an opening shot. My concern is what comes next. A pinprick on Crimea to crow about before the Russian election or something more. I’m thinking a bound to fail attempt at a Crimean front to try to relieve the pasting the Ukes are taking all along the line. The wild card is that idiot Macron. If such an operation were to go down, how hard would it be for him to disassociate the French assets in the area from NATO, the closest NATO forces to the hot war. I’m just paranoid as I see the entire Project Ukraine collapse. I fear that twit Macron’s megalomania might cause big time trouble.
As this thread is getting underway has anyone got a good source for a sound analysis of what the US has spent in aid for Ukraine?
Agree that Western leaders, particularly Macron, are psycho. I still remember how the government of South Africa dismantled their nuclear weapons when it was time for their psychos to take over. Very sad that Western leaders didn’t do the same when they saw a similar bunch rising into power.
