They will still need to hire a full-time security guard to stand outside the drive-thru window.
Somebody is going call Taco Bell racist because of this decision. That will force Taco Bell to either re-open their indoor dining, or shut down completely.
I’ll bet it will be the latter.
They realized that after covid, they can save a lot of money by shutting down dining rooms. So a lot of more places are opening up drive thru only locations. Chipotle is opening Chipotlanes.
When ferals feral, they get to eat their tacos in the rain.

Signs on most fast food drive thrus say “No Service to Pedestrians.”
First two or three brushbacks, bump into or hit hard by a vehicle and lawsuits will sink this walk up drive thru lane plan quickly. Ripe for a phony “Oh, you hit me, oh, I’m gonna sue you. I can’t move my right—uh, I mean my left leg.”
They do it with bump and run in cars why not on foot?
Quite a few fast food places found drive thrus saved money, no dining rooms to clean, no bathrooms to clean, no refills , no extra condiments , no front cash register to man. any business they lost they made up for in less labor and damage costs.
To stay open inside they’d have to have recordings say “You are under camera and audio surveillance and guns are trained on you from the ceiling.” and “Enjoy your meal.”
They’ll hand out tacos through a prison like slot in a steel plated door. The employees should only have contact with those on the outside via video camera. Talk to the taco!
Make it a sallyport where the food is placed into a compartment with openings at both ends - as one opens, the other closes.

The Taco Bell in the next town hasn’t opened their dining room since the lockdowns. Drive thru only.
