I voted in Elmore County. A good size turnout so far at lunchtime when I went.

The machine that scans the filled-out ballots broke, and the line grew really long to scan it. Finally, the nice old folks who run the voting site just collected the ballots by hand and said they’ll scan them in as soon as the machine guy showed up to fix it.

Now, perhaps many of you are thinking, “A-ha! The fix! is in!” and that thought did go through my mind, but I know these local election people. They are perfectly conservative, love their community and go to church all the time (where I often see them). lot’s of grandkids who still say Sir and Ma’am and behave themselves.

This is Elmore county, not Maricopa!

It used to be that way here (Maryland) until Covid. We could always trust the people at the polling place but then, in the 2020 election, we didn’t recognize anyone. For the first time, they didn’t ask for and didn’t even want to see ID.

I’m right outside of DC, but people over in Western Maryland - much more Conservative area - noticed similar things happening.

“lot’s of grandkids who still say Sir and Ma’am”

Thank God that was never a custom where I grew up.
