I recall reading about an earlier “oldest living person” (back when I was much younger). She was from France, and when she was a girl she’d gone with her family on a trip to Paris, where she saw the Eiffel Tower under construction.

What I've read about Jeanne Calment leads me to disbelieve this. It's a hoax.

Jeanne's daughter actually took over her mother's identity.
