The ONE AND ONLY WAY I would even consider obtaining an EV of any kind/price would be as a lease with a term six months under the minimum life expectancy of the batteries/controller.
(Love to claim it for myself but I got that from the lips of a former E-9 Aviation Electronics Technician.)
Anyway, if I was in the market for an electrically-powered vehicle that I would "only use to tootle around town", I'd go for double duty and buy a nice electric golf cart.
Might just insist on that lease deal with that as well.
