They did talk about the 2%. Yet I thin it’s closer to 10% that tip noyhing and another 10% that tip horribly. I know black servers who prefer not to wait on black tables. It’s especially black women who tip horrendously poorly.
I think tipping / tip jars have become overly stupid to the point of begging. When it’s at the gas station wher 905bdo pay at the pimp. What am I tipping for. ^.
So you tip over 20% for bad and really bad service? What a formula!
YES!
>I worked with someone who would break out his calculator. I was ‘eh’ until I saw he was deducting tax and tipping on the actual cost of dinner. Smart.<
That’s a great idea.
Intense discussions with wifey. Most every time.
One less reason to eat out!
It works.
About 20yrs ago, I started tipping the hotel check in people.
It started because the woman had a nice smile and was flirty.
She gave me a nicer, quiet room.
It’s been 20yrs since I’ve stayed in a crappy room.
I am one of those who has been historically been confused as to how much and when to tip. I usually tip restaurant servers well and in cash because I figured they don’t make much but this tipping culture has gotten out of hand. I can’t stand those card readers they have in many walk up to the counter restaurants including fast food places . When you pay with card the screen almost always now makes you specify a tip amount or no tip. Why am I tipping when I pay when they aren’t serving me at my table? I have tipped those in the past an sometimes not tipped and been given the stink eye on at least one on occasion for not tipping here. What are they doing at these places that warrants a tip?
I think that’s pretty standard in restaurants and bars whether or not they’re chains. If someone gives you great service, leave a cash tip.
Most pizza places now charge a $3-5 delivery fee. That is the tip!
If you break tipping down by race it gets more interesting. Everyone in the service industry knows exactly what I’m talking about
Came in handy when I graduated from med school.

Joking - Do your patients tip you?
OK, I do not know that Merit Badge.
“Do your patients tip you?”
LOL! They pay their bills and keep coming back.
Good enough for me.
Would you care to weigh in on the actual topic here - tipping?
For my part: I'm a generous tipper, but always have reservations about tipping, e.g., my barber, who is the actual proprietor of his shop. Accepted wisdom is that store-owners and proprietors might feel slighted when offered a tip.
Regards,
It's on my old uniform, way before they let strange Scout Masters in looking at the boys like they're in a candy store window.
My troop arrived at the Jamboree on our very own tiny bus; because we were special. Some other badges I earned were for sports
conservation cooking
snow art
and this one that took a lot of practice
Now that I are an adult these skills have gone far to help in my new road planning job under Mayor Bootygoogle. Who looks a lot like a Scout Master.
I used to do that, but between the illegals and the leftists who are most of the waiters in this area, no more. They can pay tax along with the rest of us.
It’s simple for me... If she is real, smile, attitude, body language, she’ll bget tipped well. If she is fake, smug, impatient, she gets $1....
Sales tax here is 9%, which includes 2% stadium tax. I usually tip at or a bit less than 2X the sales tax. I don’t tip on the taxes or any other fees they may add.
The correct tip for a mouthy annoying server is $0.02.
