Had some kid telling me all about the Yellow, Blue, Red and Black lodges in great detail as to what they do.

I laughed and said those dorks in Scottish Rite aren’t going to a thing about your story....

No woman can ever be made a Mason, for a variety of good reasons. I am pretty sure she would have known that.

Not her, her father. I used the “he” pronoun.

Please stop.

He was Master of the Lodge and I’m guessing it took him at least 4 years, if he were Senior Deacon first...

Now that I think of it, at least 4 years. He would have to know spoken ritual and floor work to become Master and rise through the chairs and pillars....

He also would have attended a few other lodges in the process

So, more than a few times...

He was not only a Mason, he served as master (president) of his lodge. It’s still active today and they have his portrait on the wall along with everyone else who has served as master.

I don’t know what to say to that. I have not studied it; only heard that he wasn’t. I guess it’s possible she was ashamed of it and tried to cover it up. Or it’s not a true story about her. Without researching primary documents, which I sure won’t be doing, I can’t say with certainty one way or the other. But it seems you have been close. Did Washington write about the Masons himself?

She may have been ashamed of it in some way and wanted to play it down. Freemasonry has always been under criticism. And he may have kept this aspect of his life private.

I think your mentioning the word ‘crusade’ is relevant to Catholic Church history and future.
I found it interesting Samuel FB Morse warning to Abraham Lincoln about the Catholic conspiracy to assassinate him - it was viewed the greatest threat to Catholic Hegemony was an evangelical United States. The military tribunal finding a Catholic connection to his assassination was held back due to the numbers of Irish Catholics performing as sergeants on both sides of the Civil War. Fear of a religious war returning (don’t forget the creation of Maryland as a Catholic colony created violence among the protestant strong colonies surrounding them) if proclaimed in the trial.
Fast forward 160 years and you have the fundamentals of liberation theology spread throughout latin america and the eventual communist pope coming from there.
I guess we can blame the Jesuits?

Most Masons would not write about it.

When I was young, I lived for a year with a family who were deeply involved in Freemasonry. I never heard anyone refer to it in any substantive way at all, despite a painting of the father in his regalia displayed in the front hall.

Interesting that Freemasons don’t talk about it. How do they get recruits?

People learn about it one way or another and petition to join. Freemasonry doesn’t ‘recruit’.

You should hear what some of their widows say when we touch base with them...

Whew!

What a crock! Freemasonry’s goal is to make good men better!

I wonder why it’s required for every lodge to have an open Bible on the altar at all times...

Yeah, they do. Former masons have published them.

And Yes, I have seen them.

And, just how did a Woman witness them?

Methinks you are speaking what you wish could be heard. In my 50-years as a Mason, as a Past Master, I am aware of the Oaths, and and their views on God.

But, I will not try to dissuade you. Your mind, like many of your well-meaning kind, is made up. I refuse to confuse you with the facts.

How do you know they are writing the truth?

People write all kinds of things for various reasons - vindictive reasons, reasons of profit, etc.

Actually, they do since a tacit admission of their existence is made in post 45.

Ooops......

they say they are former Masons but, when I hear the “so called” oaths, they do not resonate with anything I know of in any way, shape, form or fashion.

I am Past Master 3 times and Senior Deacon kind of everywhere...

I’ve read them published by former masons.
