I am posting this in full, since part is about me and a neighbor of mine who is a retired professional baseball player. Part is about his college baseball coach and a story he related to me. I found more about the incident on line, and add libbed parts from information others wrote.
Thus I do not feel right posting jus an excerpt and wanting you to visit my web page to read it all. So I post it in full here, with an invite to check out my website,
The Reason For My Faith.

This story is in my Bible, in Hezekiah 3--you know, my Baseball Bible, the one that starts "In the big inning..."
Thanks, Chuck.

--- Not that this has anything to do with what and why you posted, but...
The diameter of a major league baseball is 2.86 inches
Greg Maddux insisted that he owned(and he did) the outside and the inside of the plate.
If any piece of the ball nicks a corner it is a strike.
That pretty much expanded the plate almost 3 inches on either side for Mr. Maddux and the umps gave it to him.
--- After a long while, I finally found what was in front of me all this time, from reading this booklet.
The Reason Why"

(It is almost impossible to remember how tragic a place the world is when one is playing golf.)
