You would think that in this day and age of complete computer aided design that there would be practically no problems from computer screen to finished product, but the exact opposite seems to be true. The more technology is involved, the more defects are a problem..................
Mach E’s are garbage, and out of all ev’s, we tow those the most often for breakdowns.
“had the special electrical outlet installed for the fast charge”
Hmm. What can he use it now?
Maybe recharging his electric drill in 2 seconds and vaporizing it at the same time.
Or maybe he can use it as a welder.
according to the article:
gm subs out to an inexperienced company, the design and manufacture of the most complex battery pack assembly machine in the world, one that has never been designed, built, or used by anyone in the world before, and yet refuses to hire any battery engineers from “outside” ... yeah, that’s the ticket! ... we’ll sub out the world’s most complex black-box assembly machine that the future of our whole gazillion dollar company is dependent upon, but not have any engineers that know anything about it ...
i guess that’s the kind of “thinking” you get with DEI “management” ...
”…wireless battery-management system”So bad guys can hack your battery system, upload new firmware, start fires, make the battery not charge, overcharge, etc?
disconnect in the middle of nowhere...........................
That’s a good idea…read GPS and disconnect at the worst possible place and time.
According to rather lengthy lists I’ve seen, apparently there was a LOT to go wrong. It is easy to understand why many new CONVENTIONAL ICEs are not sold in greater quantities & that is ridiculously high prices compared to average wages. Then when you include a very pricey battery pack in an EV vehicle that could fail in various ways, it’s not difficult to see why they don’t sell better. Prices for these vehicles just are never going to appeal to the typical used car buyer. In fact, the typical used car buyer would be well advised to avoid an an EV even as a gift.
I didn’t know about this. May it never see the light of day. I have a perfectly good, reliable almost-20-yr.-old-vehicle. It always starts, is reasonably powerful, fairly easy on gas, & fairly comfortable, well equipped. Drawbacks are little resale value & unavailibity of OE parts at times. Compare that to the list of drawbacks to an EV.
It’s a shame. GM’s folly at essentially going “all in” on EVs has resulted a very limited, narrowly appealing fleet of gasoline-engine vehicles.
I recently started considering a new car. I’ve never been an SUV guy. I looked at GM’s offerings in the area of sedans, a segment that was their bread-and-butter for decades. Now? They’ve got a woefully underpowered, 4-cylinder Chevy Malibu and some nose-bleed-priced Cadillacs. That’s freakin’ it. They’ve essentially raised the white flag and surrendered the category to the Japanese, Koreans and Germans.
Next to the GM plant in Spring Hill, TN ( old Saturn plant) Ultium is building a Huge battery factory for EVs.
It’s probably 75-80% finished . At least on the outside. It really is large. Lots of land being used.
Wonder what will happen to it. I’d think they’d have to finish it at this point.
Worlds largest Skating Rink?................
Notice the article has to say “Not for want of customers,” yet we see 2-3 articles a week saying they can’t sell these things except in Kollyfornia.
Better be roller skating. Gets 90 to 95 degrees in the summer.
It could be both.....................
Don’t know why I said something that stupid. The Predators play in summer.
I hope they don’t try and keep the ice cold with EV batteries.
They could build an 18 hole golf course in the place.
World’s Largest Putt-Putt!..................
Spring Hill to become the next Flint, Saginaw, Warren, Livonia, Dearborn, Michigan or maybe Cleveland, Toledo, Moraine, etc OH.
But hey, the elites still get rich.
Had a saturn once liked it a lot until the aluminum engine coolant path bottle neck clogged up and blew the top off. 1/8th second of temp rise, wngine light then expensive noises.
Woke broke. Not really that difficult to understand
