In my son’s police academy class they bent over backwards to make sure that 3 of the 12 cadets were black - 2 male, one female.
The female was an army veteran and had served on another police force for 7 years. She finished the program. My son says she has attitude, but is otherwise a good officer.
The other two candidates didn’t make it. One couldn’t handle the PT. The other’s wife hated Texas and made him quit and move…I believe to Louisiana.
His class was still pretty diverse…about half were Hispanic, the black female, and they had a gay white female. Every one but my son was a veteran of the armed forces.

My younger brother is minimally retarded and has an IQ of 79. He will never be able to live on his own, but he can read and write. He’s the resident expert on Star Trek, a show he’s been obsessed with for over 50 yrs. That’s what an IQ in that range looks like.
