Barack Obama's daughter, Malia Ann, has received some negative reviews over a debut short film that she both wrote and directed.
The 25-year-old showed her 18-minute film, The Heart, at the Sundance Film Festival. The film, which tells the story of a grieving son tasked with an unusual request from his late mother, previously screened at film festivals in Telluride and Chicago, where it received recognition in the best live action short category.
In a "Meet the Artist" video for Sundance, Malia Ann said that her project "is about lost objects and lonely people and forgiveness and regret." She added that it "works hard to uncover where tenderness and closeness can exist in these things."
"We hope that you enjoy the film and that it makes you feel a bit less lonely or at least reminds you not to forget about the people who are," added the former first daughter, who appears to have dropped the surname Obama from her professional sobriquet.

Probably financed by Netflix I’d guess. But who knows? People with power and money can make a few phone calls and finance such a project on favors alone.

So we can be forced under President Harris to take public transportation or drive an EV to a theater to see a movie directed by Malia Obama sitting there with tofu and cricket powder snacks and almond milk to get our social credit points ticket and come home to see our roomful of art print reproductions of the paintings of Hunter Biden. Sweating with no air conditioning allowed and hoping the four illegal aliens staying with us downstairs aren’t going to murder us overnight.
And they try to convince me this isn’t Hell.
I would imagine the feature film would be titled “Sasquatch: A story of lost objects, lonely creatures, forgiveness, and regret.”
I give a point for not using the famous last name, but everyone will know anyway.
it seems she is trying to make a name of her own which is a good thing, although obviously she wouldn’t be shown at Sundance without connections. very glad she isn’t out at Soros demonstrations and am loathe to pile on.
I’m sure many of the “art collectors” who bought Hunter’s paintings would pay her millions to produce private movies for them. Since Barry is still in charge, it would be a much better investment for them.
Well you judge a short film on various techniques - cinematography, acting, writing, themes, dialogue, editing and whether it engages or moves you in some way (emotional, entertaining, educational etc). I’m not judging since I didn’t see it but my first thought was what does a 25 year old ivy league educated former first daughter know about loneliness, loss and regret? She might be a very empathetic person - many great artists are.
Anyway you gotta start somewhere and you gotta fail along the way to learn the skills to get better. Getting panned, she might have learned something about loss and regret.

Given who she is, and the way liberals worship their masters, you have to wonder if anyone, anywhere, has ever been honest with her.
Wow. I think you misread my comment just a tad.
I was merely suggesting that some people (like famous children) get lots of advantages that others struggling in the same career paths don’t.
I know a couple of very talented yet nearly starving artists who have worked years at their crafts, and don’t get the breaks of Sundance film festivals or private buyers like either Malia Obama or Hunter Biden.

I don’t freaking hate the girl. If she works for what she wants, all good with me. And she is better than that drug addict, Hunter Biden, no doubt.
