Generally out here in Kansas it happens when hunters bait their deer with corn on the ground or a mineral lick, where many deer congregate together, if one of the animals has it they can transmit it easily. The Department of Wildlife and Parks wants to ban the practice. For the sake of the Kansas deer herd I hope they can get legislation passed.
In Georgia, some of us know to broadcast our corn over a very large area ... multiple acres ...

Unless you really just want to feed raccoon and possums ...
