We have a lot less deer on our property these days. People that own land around us are obsessed with getting ‘The Big Buck’ so they make excellent habitats for that and all the deer end up over there - and out of my garden. Win/Win!

I last went deer hunting in 1980. Once was enough for me, though I did get a big, fat doe. ;)

Infectious Disease/ Prepper ping : "Scientists Fear 100% Fatal ‘Zombie Deer Disease’ Will Mutate to Infect Humans:
‘There Are no Contingency Plans’ "

The disease, known as 'Chronic Wasting Disease', (similar to 'Mad Cow Disease') has been found in over 30 States across the nation.
Most concerning is that this “zombie deer disease”, the virus may evolve to infect humans.
The viral disease creates holes in the affected animal's brain and is known that when found in infected animal, it is 100% fatal.
It affects deer, elk, caribou, and moose

"Scientists are sounding the alarm over the spread of “zombie deer disease” amid fears it may evolve to infect humans."

Late last year, experts confirmed Yellowstone National Park’s first case of the infection — officially known as chronic wasting disease
— after a deer carcass found in the Wyoming area of the park tested positive for the highly contagious disease.
Now, cases have been reported in deer, elk and moose in 33 states across the US, as well as in Canada, Norway and South Korea."

"The disease “damages portions of the brain and typically causes progressive loss of body condition, behavioral changes,
excessive salivation and death,” according to the New York State Department of Health.
It is 100% fatal, and there are no treatments or vaccines."

So, this disease eats holes on one’s brain? At least now I know where Democrats come from.

And I bet they took a sample of that to that place in Colorado that is doing gain of function research where they will make sure it will infect humans.

Using the word “zombie” will scare the hell out of people because they will associate it with all the zombie apocalypse movies out there.

One of our neighbors has another piece of property about an hour away, a small cabin on 30 ish acres. He hunts out there during the season. Every Christmas he brings us some of his venison jerky, the best stuff ever!

I doubt it will *evolve*. At least without assistance.
Then again, there’s that pesky gain of function thing going on these days.

Ah, "medical science experts" weigh in on a new reason to panic and to live in fear.

From the recent Fauci Flu debacle, it's reasonable to take the position that you'll be far healthier -- mentally as well as physically -- if you ignore the "experts'" compulsive need for attention (unless, of course, a hobby of deer carcass collecting takes you to Wyoming, in which case you should wear a mask ... I suppose.)

The old way of ending scrapie (sheep prion disease) was 20 plus years of the pasture being completely fallow (as my grandfather told it).

But let’s face it, they don’t know.

Fallow deer are resistant to CWD. Maybe we need to import more of them.

It is a prion disease. Like CJD, “Mad cow” or dementia, it robs a suffer of their ability to function.

Everyone here can pretend that deer CWD is not an issue all they want. It’s spreading into Mississippi and Alabama. There have been human deaths even if they claim it can’t. Prion disease is no joke. Idk if your the same people kneeling to get the Vax or if you pushed back. Some counties now have 60-80% deer harvested with CWD. It’s in the environment and it doesn’t leave. I am no expert but it is spreading and it’s getting more dangerous. I like eating Barbie as much as the next redneck but this is an issue.

Ignore at your own ignorance. Just research it.

“Ignore at your own ignorance. Just research it.”

You must’ve misunderstood. We no longer hunt for Venison. Haven’t for a DECADE or more, now.

Me, personally? Last deer shot in 1980.
