I guess that sounds better to the masses than "uncontrolled." It's natural! And natural is good! Masterful degree of euphemism.
Can a trucker that falls asleep at the wheel use that as a defense? Why, it wasn't that I was no longer driving the truck, it's just that the truck was driving along "naturally" before it crashed...
