I lived in Germany for 19 yrs. Even some older cars had a mechanical system you could operate by hand with a lever to change the angle of your lights. Newer models, of course, had more convenient electronic methods. Today’s big trucks (Ford 150’s, etc.) are jacked up so high their low beams are right in your face. I have to pull the sun visor down to help block their lights as it does no good to flash your high beams at the driver. It is a problem that creates unsafe driving situations..

Even worse when they're actually jacked up from factory height. It's especially bad where I live; I'd love to propose a local ordinance that goes something like this:
Anyone who lifts the suspension of a pickup truck, SUV, or crossover more than one (1) inch without adjusting the headlights downward shall be guilty of a correctable misdemeanor. Offenders shall, until such time as they adjust said headlights, have affixed to the tailgate of their personal vehicle, regardless of their sex, a decal reading, in not less than 4" letters: "I have a tiny penis"

As a kid my Dad LOVED Volkswagon - he’s had 17 of them through the years. I still have his 2001 Golf which is my ‘summer car.’
I remember he and Grandpa constantly fiddling with the headlights on those cars. ;)

....older cars had a mechanical system you could operate by hand with a lever to change the angle of your lightsThat was a feature of the Citroën deux chevaux from 90 years ago. I remember 'em well, from living in Cambridge (MA) in my college days. Wouldn't mind having one today.

With LEDs, you’d think you could put a light bar on the lower edge of the bumper.

Buy an old car with dual round headlights.
Install aircraft landing lights for the high beams.
You’ll be able to see the tops of trees at night along with waking up roosters as you drive by.
You’re welcome!
