You’re right. You can’t take a Peterbilt and 53’ trailer through the city streets. But they do deliver to warehouses near the city for delivery by smaller trucks. They can still strangle the city.

Manhattan isn’t the primary destination for NYC-bound long haul trucks.

Most fresh meat and produce for NYC is delivered to the Hunts Point Terminal in the South Bronx. There are plenty of Peterbilts pulling 53-foot trailers into there all hours of the day and night.

I knew someone that did. He drove a Kenworth and delivered hanging meat from Chicago to NYC.
