William “Bill” Post, the man who created one of the greatest breakfast treats in Pop-Tarts, died last week, his family announced. He was 96-years-old at the time of his passing.
Post worked as the plant manager for the Michigan-based Hekman Biscuit Company, which became known later as Keebler Company.
Post is credited with inventing Pop-Tarts, but he would always say it was a team effort, according to his obituary.

Brown sugar & cinnamon are heaven!
Agreed. They were a bit dry, but slather some butter on the unfrosted side fresh out of the toaster and......😋
Never tried one. Never will.
I enjoyed those as a kid.
RIP.
I would assume pop tarts were among those products containing HEK 293.
For this reason, I don’t eat them.
That's some drama right there.
I hope he didn't die trying this stunt.
Those are great.
I have no words for how utterly LAME that was ...
I began eating pop-tarts in 1964 when I was four years old. I loved the chocolate the most. And I still love pop-tarts. Chocolate is still the best.
Unrelated, but years ago one of my younger coworkers was eating pop tart bites, and had seen him eating French toast stick bites before, and needled him saying , what millennials can’t handle the whole thing, need it cut up for you? And recently saw toll house crackers in mini cracker form and had to laugh
When I was in college, a guy I knew said he had a dream about Cherry Pop-Tart Pie. It was a creation that didn’t exist, so he made it. A layer of Cherry Pop-Tarts, a layer of Cherry pie filling topped by a layer of Cherry Pop-Tarts.
So, basically a pie tin filled with sugar.
Years later I told my kids about it and of course we had to try it.
But back to Pop Tarts. The term has become a way to call someone a retard without having to incur PC wrath for the "R" word.
e.g. "Look at that pop tart trying to fill his Tesla with Diesel!"
My grandparents from my Father’s side worked for Kellogg’s, and the ones from my Mother’s side worked for Post, in Battle Creek.
The cool thing is, as kids, we got all the toys that came with the cereals.
I remember Mom giving me a glass of Instant Breakfast and a Pop Tart as I went out the door to school.
She wanted me to have all my vitamins. ☺
Yes. Butter made them edible still do.
Never did pop tarts, not sure how healthy they were, would have to look at the carb and sugar count.
We opted for cereal, cream of wheat and oatmeal.
Cereals being touted as being “healthy” is the biggest con, ever.
I think some are good for you with milk, shredded wheat, oatmeal cheerios, less so are special K etc.
You’re better off doing like Bill Cosby, and giving your kids chocolate cake for breakfast.
At least your kids will sing praises to you......UNTIL.....
