I’ve been to Mercedes-Benz once, and doubt I’ll go back. More crowd that I like. Even State Farm Arena next door is on the big side. I did go there for Queen with Adam Lambert back in October.
Check out The Caverns in Pelham, TN. While they have an outdoor stage for bigger acts, you want to go to a show in the cave. Pretty nice having natural air conditioning in a Middle Tennessee Summer. We’ve been twice.
But everybody has those local venues that seat a few hundred people, at the most. Some great shows in those kind of places.
Tallahassee Fl - the long defunct Tommy’s Deep South Music Hall. Maybe room for 300 people. Joan Jett, Iggy Pop, Steel Pulse, Psychedelic Furs, Fleshtones. If I had a choice of going back and reliving shows from the past, I’d be back at Tommy’s.
Nodding at Iggy Pop as he sat at the bar, watching opening acts, pouring himself shots from a bottle. Joan Jett walking around in the crowd talking to fans. Fleshtones doing 14 single song encores because the crowd wouldn’t let them leave.
