Have to disagree with you there, LL. If the parents had a tracking app on that girl’s phone, they would have “seen” that she was not at the sleepover.

Those apps are only useful while you’re looking at them, or if they sound an alarm when your child is both outside the geofence AND she takes her phone with her. Parents are unlikely to be looking at the app while they’re sleeping. The coordination of the escape from the sleepover, likely preceded by numerous texts, would have been so much harder if the young girl only had access to a land line.
