Shocking video shows a pet dog named Holly Jolly getting attacked by a mountain lion in his California yard — then fighting back to somehow live another day.
The 3-year-old schnauzer is seen on Ring camera footage casually stepping out for a bathroom break in La Verne, CA around 9 p.m. Feb. 10 when the cougar suddenly appears.

Holly Jolly saved by 2nd Amendment
Saw the video on the local LA morning news on Monday. Holly Jolly stood in there tough. The Dog needed a few wounds stitch up but is doing good.
Good thing it was a giant schnauzer and not a mini.
“I was like there’s no way. I was imagining like a skunk”
Like, ya know, man? Like, I was cruising on some good...when, like, like, man, I heard this, like, noise? Right, man?”
“then fighting back to somehow live another day.”
Owner’s intervened.
That was a good sized dog.
A smaller one would not have stood a chance.
Did the homeowner kill the cougar?
Cougars love dogs!
Coyote is cougar’s favorite snack!
My 6 year-old grandson asked me if there was a difference between a vicious mountain lion attack and a regular mountain lion attack?
I read the terms, mountain lion, cougar, bobcat, etc frequently in articles, even in reported sightings of them and yard camera pic image captures here in Michigan. Are these different terms being used interchangeably and mistakenly?
I spent some time house siting in Coastal SCal some years ago. The orders from the relative was not let the cat out after dark and watch the dog for a potty break after dark.
Mountain lions and cougars are the same species a bobcat is completely different like a lynx they are much smaller.
As I understand it.
I’ve read where cougars and black bears you should try to fight off if they attack. A cougar will often quit as it wasn’t expecting a fight. A black bear probably won’t stop, but it won’t stop either if you just play dead, so might as well try to fight it. Black bear attacks are pretty rare though. (A freeper tells the story of his dog and him fighting a black bear, with the freeper finally on the bear’s back and stabbed it to death with a knife!)
Grizzlies you are supposed to play dead and hopefully you can survive the wounds from their first attack.
Smart 6 year-old grandson
I just shoot.
If you are in grizzly territory, you pack some serious heat if you are in wandering around alone in their territory..
Mountain lion, cougar and puma are interchangeable names for the largest American feline.
Bobcat is different feline, also known as Lynx. (Smaller and more common)
Similar from National Park Service for surprised or defensive bears.

If you surprise a grizzly/brown bear and it charges or attacks, do not fight back! Only fight back if the attack persists.
If a predatory bear attacks you, no matter the species, fight back with everything you have.
“Are these different terms being used interchangeably and mistakenly?”
Interchangeable depending on the region. Also add panther and puma.
The bobcat is smaller.
