Tucker Carlson Dismisses Putin Assassination Claims: 'Every Leader Kills'
Newsweek ^ | 2/13/2024 | Jon Jackson

Tucker Carlson defended on Monday his decision not to question Russian President Vladimir Putin about allegations that the Kremlin has ordered assassinations of political dissidents.

"Every leader kills people. Some kill more than others," the former Fox News host said.

His comments came during a discussion at the World Government Summit in Dubai that touched upon his interview last week with the Russian leader. The interview, taped on February 6 and aired two nights later, has made international headlines for numerous statements made by Putin, including his supposed rationale for invading Ukraine.

During the Dubai summit, Egyptian journalist Emad el-Din Adeeb asked Carlson why he didn't ask Putin about jailed Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, alleged political assassinations or restrictions in Russia's upcoming presidential election.

"I didn't talk about the things that every other American media outlet talks about," Carlson said.

After Adeeb pressed him further, Carlson added: "Because those are covered and because I have spent my life talking to people who run countries in various countries and have concluded the following: that every leader kills people, including my leader.

"Every leader kills people. Some kill more than others. Leadership requires killing people.

I noticed he criticized the US for backing Israel against Hamas. Of course, he was speaking to an Arab audience, so shifting blame to the US was the easiest way to duck the issue.

Again, I take everything you and your fellow zeepers say with a grain of salt. It’s just propaganda.

I call that pandering. Obviously, the Tucker fans here are fine with it. I also call it anti-American and rather leftist in nature... since the radical left hold that same viewpoint on the US backing Israel.

Tucker was hating on Israel back when he was on PMSNBC.

I also notice that helping a country that’s been attacked is considered war-mongering. I don’t agree. The attacker is the war-monger. So while I would agree with Tucker on many issues, on these issues I am disappointed.

I agree with you on that.

Didn’t he criticize Trump for the killing of Soleimani ? And the US shouldn’t be supporting Ukraine because it isn’t a democracy ? Tucker probably thinks religious persecution is justifiable as well as long as the cities are beautiful. I agree with some of what he says but most is not thought through and just talking off the top of his head quite honestly.

Tucker going back to bowties, a la Nation of Islam? Now that he’s openly shilling for Hamas.

All of the best spy/espionage fiction is based on fact. Loved early Tom Clancy. I have enjoyed a lot of the more recent thrillers.

Do you think (the late) Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp “American Assasin” is made up out of whole cloth? Are Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Brad Thor’s Scot Harvath, or Alex Berenson’s John Wells all made-up stories too?

That is to say, I agree with Tucker that likely all 1st world countries have government-condoned kill squads. That doesn’t even take into account all the bombings (killing) the US has done in undeclared wars.

Tucker blew a gasket after President Trump droned Soleimani.

“ And Tucker stayed on with Fox, despite that fact. He had to be fired from Fox. All facts.”

Conservative commentators quitting the msm is NOT a winning strategy.

...If your definition of "winning" includes having an MSM job.

Apparently your definition of winning is running away.
If there are no conservatives in the msm than the public only sees liberalism.
This is precisely why we are getting our butts kicked.

What a nutty thing to say. Nobody can quit because you say so?
Wrong. I don’t even know that Carlson left voluntarily, but if he did that’s none of my or your business.

You said, “what a nutty thing to say” and then proceeded that with a statement that I never made.

Tucker was the best spokesperson we had on tv. Now he’s only seen by people who already agree with him. That isn’t much help to our cause. You can trash him all you want but, being on Fox well in to the Biden administration has been valuable. If he had quit when you think he should’ve then the Jan 6 videos would never have aired on any mainstream media outlet.

I am not judging Carlson for quitting. For one thing, I don’t know if he had any choice. And if he did quit, that is not my call. I did not say when he should have left either, but I am glad we could see some of the videos. Some of them are still hidden.
