A high-flying teacher at a Manhattan high school has refused to explain what she was doing in a locked staff bathroom stall with a 17-year-old pupil, or why she later handed him a wad of cash in a stairwell.

Shoshana Leffler, 37, remains licensed to teach after resigning from the High School for Health Careers and Sciences last year rather than face questions over the seven-minute tryst that was partially caught on surveillance video.

But investigators have concluded the Princeton University graduate 'engaged in an inappropriate relationship' with the boy who should have been in class at the time.

'What occurred in the bathroom can only be speculated about since Leffler resigned from the DOE without providing an explanation,' said Anastasia Coleman, the special commissioner of investigation for city schools.

Leffler and her twin brother Abba were child prodigies at the prestigious Bronx High School of Science.

'These are the students who, God willing, will find cures for diseases and will be our political leaders,' then-Bronx Science Principal Valerie Reidy told The Post in 2005.

Shoshana went on to publish academic papers, earning a PhD from New York University with a dissertation on brain cell development.

In 2019 she began work for the city's Department of Education, later taking a job as a chemistry teacher at the high school in Fort George.

While I cannot say I have done extensive research, it is pretty telling that the photographs used are from her time in college, still changing physique and body; and these days, I’d almost guarantee she doesn’t look like that.

having said that...research the brother Abba Leffler. Her middle name is Regina and her papers through NYU are Shoshana R. Leffler. If you think this is a 7 minutes of heaven sort of agreement, which I do not, then continue on. Shoshana and Abba are Hebrew, Shoshana is “rose” and Abba is “in the image of the father, or lion” They are of Jewish descent within the Bronx, and quite smart. Smart people DO also DO dumb things. But this might be worse than sex, as in drugs or other illegalities, and hopefully not, but maybe the cash was for a passing grade...in chemistry.

You have to think in a year no one has known about this...and no one can get one picture from a 2023 faculty directory. Just a snapshot with professor in 2009. Okay.

Male student, “17”, always throws out red flags because what if that same student was in college at 17, like my children were...this isn’t a middle school or young girl in high school, this is a man about to be a US-legal 18, but could marry in certain states and considered adult.

I shall not judge, for it is not in my placement nor my matter.

I’d hit it.

For the wad of cash.

When I was a yute, my pal Jimmy used to bang "older women" for cash...strictly business, but I never knew how he performed with some of those creatures.

I was never a prude and had more than my fair share of pleasure with older women... but I was a teenager and they were in their 30-40s, but Jimmy went grandma hunting... I could never understand his ability, but the payoff was exceptional.

If you could look at her and still perform...you get a tip of the cap from me...regardless about the size of the "wad of cash".

I doubt she had tenure (generally four years now in NY). If she did, she would likely not have resigned so quickly, as tenure in NY conveys a property interest that cannot be diminished without due process, and that due process can take upwards of up to one year.

Now that she’s “coded” in NYC, it’s doubtful that she’ll teach there again. And any public school district that’s worth their weight will run a background check on any applicant.
