When I was at UT Austin the computer nerds had modded version of Doom that used a cartoon map of the UT campus. The faces of monsters looked like prominent professors.

A lot of non scientific bloviating but 3:45 gets to it.

You could put a drop of fluorescent dye in the same wells instead of bacteria transferred with fluorescent proteins, as she did, and it’s the same thing.

For a first year grad student it’s an exercise in lab techniques. It has the added benefit of being sensationalized for scientifically illiterate which helps rich rubes contribute to the endowment.
