If that idiot Eisenhower had listened to General Patton the Russin threat would have been ended once and for all by 1947. Moscow, Leningrad, and Stalingrad would likely have been nuked but Eastern Europe would have been saved from 45 years of Russian enslavement plus Ukraine would now be celebrating 70+ years of freedom from the Russians.
Yup, Ike should have listened to Patton.
You would not have me to deal with. In 1945 my dad graduated and had already enlisted by August. We barely, barely had enough A bombs to take out the japs. You’re right, minimum two years to end the war. Line up the resources VE Day on the European continent. Hard to say who would have won. After three A bombs, with a U.S./Soviet war ongoing in Europe, no way the japs would have surrendered. The American people would not have tolerated 5 million American casualties in two years to take Moscow and Tokyo. Your “strategy” would have also cost 40 million jap civilians and 60 million Chinese.
> If that idiot Eisenhower had listened to General Patton the Russin threat would have been ended once and for all by 1947...
There were and still are no good reasons for Americans to die for that kind of project. As Bismark said The Balkans aren’t worth the life of a single Pomeranian grenadier. The balkans are far closer to Germany than the US is to Ukraine. Same goes for the rest of Eastern Europe.
But he really screwed up by not letting Patton and 3rd Army drive as fast as they could after Cobra took off.
Could have had an American blitzkrieg if he'd listened.
MeganC Nuland, do you have any cookies to pass out?
If you go poking at the bear, don’t be surprised if the bear pokes back.
Did Patton have enough winter gear? German army was defeated in Russia by the brutal winter. With 12 time zones, Russia is very hard to conquer. Japan is designed to be nuked with highly dense population. USA could not defeat North Vietnam, Afghanistan and made a disastrous blunder to take out Sadam who was keeping Iran under control and there was no ISIS under Sadam.
LOL. And just how many world wars have you won?
Lol, the political and diplomatic decisions had already been made. There was zero chance of the US invading the Soviet Union. If you think Eisenhower had any choice in the matter, you are woefully ignorant of history.
